This significant document was recovered in the IFI archives in 2018. It has very interesting historical value, as it describes the process and rationale for the development of “optimal” US Metric Thread and Fastener standards.It should be noted that the current direction in the North American fastener industry has been to adopt ISO Metric Fastener Standards and to withdraw most ANSI/ASME Metric Fastener Standards  in order to remain consistent with global markets.
