Privacy Statement

The Industrial Fasteners Institute currently collects three types of information from its website (the “Website”):  (1) your IP (Internet Protocol) address; (2) information you voluntarily submit on publication order forms, meeting registration forms, survey response forms, service enrollment forms, e‑mails and information you submit to gain access to the Members Only section of the Website; and (3) cookies, if you so choose.

Your IP address often does not identify an individual, but rather is only a temporary name by which an individual obtains access to the Website. The Industrial Fasteners Institute uses your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer the quality of the Website. We do not use IP addresses to personally identify users. We use analytics to determine which areas of the Website visitors like based on the volume of traffic and to better prepare future site content based on the interests of users. We do not track the usage patterns of individual users, except when users click through e‑mails we send out.

Information voluntarily disclosed to the Industrial Fasteners Institute either online or in writing through publication order forms, meeting registration forms, survey response forms, service enrollment forms and e-mail is added to the relevant Industrial Fasteners Institute database to enable processing of the order or registration, or to generate the appropriate response. This information is usually the name, address and item purchased, meeting attended or topic of interest. The Industrial Fasteners Institute may distribute further relevant information to individuals identified in this way. On occasion, we also contract with third parties for marketing or other activities related to the Industrial Fasteners Institute’s goals and objectives, and allow them to use selected information under strict confidentiality agreements. The Industrial Fasteners Institute will use its best efforts to prevent the government from obtaining member or customer information unless required by law.

Information provided to the Industrial Fasteners Institute in non-electronic form may also be used in this way. Individuals who would like to “opt out” of receiving additional communications from the Industrial Fasteners Institute should contact the Industrial Fasteners Institute to have their names removed from our lists. Corrections or other changes may also be made by e-mailing info@indfast.org.

Please note that, from time to time, the Industrial Fasteners Institute may provide links to third-party websites. These websites operate independently from this Website and may have their own privacy statements in place, which the Industrial Fasteners Institute strongly suggests you review if you visit any linked websites.  To the extent any linked websites you visit are not operated by or on behalf of the Industrial Fasteners Institute, the Industrial Fasteners Institute is not responsible for their content or your use of such websites.

The Industrial Fasteners Institute endeavors to take appropriate measures to assure the protection of its members’ and Website visitors’ records and to protect them from loss, misuse or alteration. Such records are protected from access by Internet users through a firewall.

However, while the Industrial Fasteners Institute takes these steps to protect your personal information and keep it secure, you also play a role in protecting your information. You must maintain the security of your online transactions by not sharing your passwords and personal information with any unauthorized parties.

Please also be aware that, despite the Industrial Fasteners Institute’s best intentions and the guidelines outlined in this Privacy Statement, no data transmission over the internet or encryption method can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. The Industrial Fasteners Institute cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to it or from its website and, therefore, you use this website at your own risk.

The Industrial Fasteners Institute may revise this Privacy Statement at any time.
