Since joining the Industrial Fasteners Institute (IFI) back in August 2018, Dan Walker has spent the last eight years helping steer the organization and the fastener industry forward. But his deep roots in manufacturing and trade associations run even deeper. Having spent his entire post-college career in association management, including time in the steel construction industry, technical and hands-on organizations are simply second nature to him.
For Dan, leading IFI as Managing Director isn’t just about overseeing day-to-day operations; it’s about building a community where members take genuine pride in participating and stepping into leadership roles. That value shows up everywhere, from the free training IFI offers, live webinars, and in-person classes, to the critical government affairs work led by Washington representative Jennifer Baker Reid. Through legislative updates and D.C. fly-ins, Dan and the IFI team ensure members have a strong unified voice when speaking with elected officials.
Networking and connection are also at the heart of what makes IFI special. Between annual spring and fall gatherings, the team hosts regional division meetings, in-person throughout the year for the automotive, aerospace, and industrial products divisions, giving members consistent opportunities to collaborate and support great causes. A recent example was the automotive division meeting at TPC Michigan, where members came together for a golf outing benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Looking ahead, Dan is incredibly optimistic about IFI’s direction. With strong technical standards work, solid financial footing, and a fresh wave of younger professionals stepping up to shape the organization’s new direction, Dan is proud to be leading an association with such a bright path into the future.
