For more than 55 years, Hariton Machinery Company has helped manufacturers around the world buy and sell new and used equipment. Founded in 1970 by Alan Hariton’s father, the family business has grown into a global operation with a 60,000-square-foot warehouse in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
As Vice President, Alan has spent decades building relationships across the fastener and manufacturing industries. Those relationships are also what he values most about his membership in the Industrial Fasteners Institute.
Hariton Machinery has been part of IFI for more than 20 years, and Alan says the organization’s biggest strength is the people.
“The best benefit of IFI is the networking… I have the opportunity to speak to a lot of decision-makers in companies that come here… We all help each other and work with each other”
Whether he’s talking with customers, suppliers, or other industry leaders, Alan appreciates the opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from people who understand the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. Those conversations continue long after the meetings end, creating connections that benefit everyone.
He also enjoys the atmosphere of IFI meetings. While the educational sessions provide business insights, it’s the time spent outside the meeting room that often leaves the biggest impression. From golf outings to dinners and casual conversations, the events create an environment where members can get to know one another on a personal level. Those relationships make collaboration easier and strengthen the industry as a whole.
For companies considering joining IFI, his advice is simple: attend a meeting.
“Once you experience the networking and meet the people, you’ll understand what the organization is all about.”
After more than two decades of membership, Alan believes IFI delivers value by bringing people together to share knowledge, build relationships, and help each other succeed. For Alan, it’s the people and the relationships that make every IFI meeting worth attending.
