IFI Training Topic – Day 1: Fundamentals of Manufacturing Threaded Fasteners
Course Details:
In this one-day class, students will become familiar with the overall fastener manufacturing process, including how all the disparate parts come together in a finished fastener. The course provides a high-level overview of the primary processes and machines used. Some process approaches will also be compared.
In addition to primary manufacturing processes, such as cold heading and thread rolling, students will review secondary and “outside” processes such as machining, grinding, heat treating and plating. The class concludes with a review of cost drivers and how different processes play a role in the comparative cost of parts.
This course provides a high-level overview and is designed for individuals who do not need in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process but rather those who would benefit greatly from understanding how all the pieces come together to produce a finished fastener.
